As the only three boys in this cohort we felt the need to set the stakes high on our EdTech Inquiry topic. Our topic of choice is; Vlogging as a means for students to track their progress. What initially drew us to this topic was the act of students being able to video themselves, review what they did, adjust their actions, and then perform the task again. As we all come from an athletic background we thought this topic could be more directly applied to Educational Physical Health classes, or sports teams. The more we thought about this topic the more we realized that this form of reviewing and seeing yourself progress via the means of vlogging, it could be applied to multiple courses.
We wanted to do this inquiry to discover how far video reviewing could go in the classroom. As we use video review as a huge part of sports, we were extremely intrigued about the prospect of implying this in the classroom with academics, but also physical education. We will be exploring the correct way to initiate vlogging as a medium for youth, possible apps that could work within the realms of vlogging and video review, and finally possible assessment options on gauging student progress. This focus on progression and process rather than final product encompasses the modern approach that is being introduced into schools.
