For our lecture this week, we had a guest in come discuss social media and the safety around it specifically around our future lives as teachers. To be fully honest, he kind of scared me into worrying about my past social media posts and experiences. However, researching into it a bit more, and actually identifying my past posts, there isn’t that much I have to worry about.

As teachers, future employers tend to look into our lives a bit deeper because of what we post on apps such as; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. However, because I never post on Facebook, and I don’t own Twitter those apps are not something I have to worry about. For apps such as Instagram and Snapchat I am pretty active on those. In respect to Instagram, I am already very conscious of what I post because of reason like future employers looking into my life and the things I post on. The one thing that worried me the most is my Snapchats. Apparently, Snapchat records all pictures a user has ever taken, deleted and saved. This opened my eyes to being more conscious about things that I take pictures of being appropriate if someone were to ever look through my history. Overall, there is not much I have to worry about, but it definitely made me more open to what I should and should not take pictures of.

We ended the lecture with a quick tutorial of how to create and edit using the platform iMovie. This video editor allows the use to do many things, but mainly edit clips, videos, music, and pictures. This could be used for a multitude of different things in the classroom for presentation purposes, or also as a collective end project. One example I have seen something like this used in the classroom was when we went on our music class field trip on Wednesday. The teacher made collective music video using the students of the entire school singing a song in relation to anti-bullying day. I honestly loved using iMovie to make some video montages for trips with my friends. But I learned that there is so much more you can do with the application that I am definitely going to try in the future. For example, audio editing, and green screen action. For now here is an example of something I have made in the past that shows I know how to use iMovie.

This video I made was a small clip of a video I made for my trip of Europe I took in the summer of 2019!
